The History of us...

So to start off this little blog of ours, I figure I should give a little bit of history of how we came to be married…So Jorden and I met roughly 6 years ago through a mutual friend of ours. This mutual friend thought it would be pretty funny to add everybody on his msn messenger account to Jorden’s account so that Jorden would have all these random friends that he didn’t know, and I was one of those random friends. So, that’s really how we came to know each other was through msn messenger. (Technically, we had met face-to-face before this, but neither of us really connected the dots until later). So, we would talk randomly on msn messenger, and came to know each other relatively well, but that was basically the extent of our friendship.

The first time that we both acknowledge remembering meeting the other one was at a party that one of our friends was having. We sat and talked a lot at this party and kind of started liking each other at that point.

So, after that party we talked a lot more on msn and on the phone constantly, and we started hanging out pretty much any free minute that we had. This went on for like 2 months or so. It wasn’t anything too serious, but there were definitely some feelings involved. Anyway, then a girl that Jorden had really liked all through high school, started showing interest in him. Due to the fact that she was his age and I was a few years younger, and due to the fact that he had really liked this girl for years, he decided she would probably be a little better match for him at that stage of his life. So although technically we were never “together”, we kinda “broke up”… (and that is the nicest way I could think of to word this little period of our lives… ha ha)

Anyway, this was toward the end of October 2004. We remained friends, and still talked every so often. Jorden received his mission call and left the following February. We wrote a few letters here and there, maybe like 6 throughout the whole 2 years so definitely pretty casual.

When he got home February of 2007, we decided to hang out just for old times’ sake. We did, and there was definitely nothing happening between us, and we figured we would just be friends. (Looking back, this was mostly probably because I was the first girl he hung out with alone since he had been home from his mission and he was still a little bit in awkward returned-missionary mode) A few weeks later, I really needed somebody to take some pictures of me for a school thing, and there was pretty much nobody who would do it that day. I was talking to him online and he said that he would take the pictures. So, we ended up hanging out that day. We actually never even took the pictures because we ended up just talking all day long and before we realized it was already dark so we couldn’t take them. Anyway, we realized that maybe there was something between us after all.

We started dating again on March 16, 2007. In August, I was set to move up to Provo so I could go to BYU, and he was set to go to Ephraim. At that point, I really didn’t want to get married at all, and so I told him that we could continue dating if he wanted to, but that I wanted to date other people as well, and that I knew he wanted to get married soon so that I would definitely understand if he wanted to find somebody who wanted to get married as well. He told me that I should know he had no intentions of seeing anybody else because it wasn’t just that he wanted to get married, he just wanted to marry me and he was willing to wait until I was ready. So, we went off to college, and still saw each other on weekends. A few months later, in November, I was realizing that just maybe I wanted to marry him too :)

So, we decided that we were on the same page, and we decided we would try to get married in December and I would just transfer to Snow College. He bought a ring, and we got engaged on November 20. However, I couldn’t sell my apartment contract, and we didn’t want to get stuck paying double rent for 6 months, so we decided we would just get married at the end of the next semester. So, after one very long engagement, we were married on June 4, 2008 in the Manti temple.

We have lived in Ephraim ever since. Jorden is going to Snow College for an Associate’s of pre-engineering so that when we transfer to wherever we transfer he can be further into the engineering program. I am going to Utah State University through their extension here in Ephraim and this will be my senior year in the psychology program, and I am super excited to be done! At least until grad school…

Anyway, that’s ‘us’ in a nutshell! Sorry for the novel, but that really was a VERY condensed version of our history.
